The Byzantine text-type, or Majority Text, is considered by its advocates to be a more accurate rendering of the Greek New Testament, though the more commonly accepted New Testament text, called the Alexandrian text-type, which is used in the Nestle-Aland (N/A) text and the United Bible Societies Greek Testament (UBS), is based on more ancient New Testament. This fascinating study edition lets you get as close to the original Greek of the Bible as possible. The entire text of the New Testament is set alongside the corresponding Greek Majority text, along with two English translations, one word-for-word and one idiomatic.

Other reviewers have covered most issues quite well, but I wanted to mention that the differences between the Majority Text (used here) and the Textus Receptus and Nestle Aland/UBS versions are clearly set out in notes. Idioms are also shown clearly. This is a great help for students who want to know what the differences are between the Greek manuscripts, and who are tired of word-for-word interlinears that do not add idioms below the literal translation. Also, the fonts used make it easy to follow the text. The Interlinear NASB-NIV, for example, is difficult to read because of poor font choices. I'm not certain why the binding was criticized; it is sturdy and has given me no problem. Nor has the paper. At any rate, this book is excellent and I recommend it highly to beginning and intermediate Greek students - and for all who want to have a quick look at differences between manuscripts. You can simply go through the pages, looking at the notes, and immediately see where the Greek texts differ. I find this invaluable.

This title is now out print, but is worth tracking down. Unlike most interlinears, it is based on the authoritative Majority Text. Most contemporary translations are based on the dubious "Sinaiticus" or "Vaticanus" minority manuscripts, and are chock-full of omissions and corruptions. (These include Westcott-Hort, Nestle-Aland, and United Bible Societies.) The minority texts together represent anywhere from about 0.5% to 15% of the readings overall, yet probably 80-90% of all Bibles are based on those questionable manuscripts! The book quality is sub-par, as are most Thomas Nelson publications. The paper quality is just a notch above newsprint, and the pages are consequently fragile. Having the Textus-Receptus (TR) based NKJV is a nice bonus. However, the word-for-word literal Majority Text included is far superior to that translation...especially since the Hodges and Farstad Majority Text often gives alternate readings for the same Greek word. An indispensable tool for the serious student of the Word!

The New King James Version Greek-English Interlinear New Testament presents each word of the Majority Greek New Testament text, the English translation of each word, and an excellent rendition of the text in modern English. This compact volume us useful to both Greek experts and also those who know no Greek and but want to see each word of the text defined for Bible study purposes.

The Majority Greek Text of the New Testament is the current expanded and up-to-date version of the Textus Receptus ("Received Text"), the Greek text used in the middle ages by Greek speaking Christians and by Luther, Calvin, and Tyndale. This Greek text is called the Majority Text because it is the coherent text that is based on the majority of the thousands of surviving Greek manuscripts and fragments of the New Testament. The New King James Version is an excellent complete-equivalence English translation of the Greek Majority Text of the New Testament.
