The International Garden Photographer of the Year is a unique competition, open to professional and amateur photographers, that showcases stunning images within landscape, nature and wildlife, still life, and even portrait photography as it relates to plants and gardening. Entrants from around the world submit photographs in one of several categories—the Beauty of Plants; Beautiful Gardens; Trees, Woods, and Forests; Breathing Spaces; Greening the City; the Bountiful Earth; Wildlife Havens; Fragile Landscapes; and Young Garden Photographer of the Year—and winners for both single images and portfolios are selected in each.

This series compiles the winners and best entries of each year in a beautifully bound volume. The result is a comprehensive and timely collection of some of the best nature photography in the world. It captures such diverse subjects as Canadian aspen groves, Mexican wall gardens in Texas, Japanese gardens tucked away amidst urban cityscapes, and fireflies lighting the summer sky. All of the images are accompanied by descriptions from the photographers, which lend insight into their perspectives and techniques. A striking survey of the year’s best photographs of the natural world and of those who depend on and delight in it, this volume will be a welcome addition to the bookshelf of any gardener, nature lover, or photography enthusiast.

Anyone who is aware of the competition knows that the standard of selected images is extremely high. Again this collection applauds the "local" element of photography and does not limit itself to the cliched seascape/landscape images. Photographers acknowledge how they took their images, including post processing, and it's pleasing to see that some of the winners have used the postprocessing tricks to enhance their work, rather than to dominate it.
The usual display of images at reasonable size lets the reader appreciate a collection of work from amateurs and professionals all around the world. Delightful and inspiring.

Excellent book! Superb photographs!

This is the fifth in a series of beautifully produced books showcasing photographs from an annual photography contest in England. The images are quite varied--from broad landscapes to intimate gardens to macro details to studio pieces. A beautiful book that is inspirational to photographers and interesting for non-photographers as well. The images are captioned with some information about the equipment used to take the image and (sometimes) very brief comments from the photographer.

A beautiful book for a photographer or even a fan of nature to have I really love it and look at it often amazing photographs.
